Art for kids should be happy, whimsical, adventurous and dreamy. We asked a few wee ones for their picks on what they would like in their rooms. Here’s what they chose! Top left clockwise:

Perusing the new blogs over at the re-designed Canadian House and Home website today, I came across a post by Sarah Hartill on Cheap Art for Kids' Rooms. And since I was featuring some Affordable Art for kids from our marketplace today, I thought this post was an appropriate read. Sarah hung some twine and then attached Charley Harper flash cards as artwork! Click here to read. Photos: Sarah Hartill Photography

I just read over at Design Hole (who twittered me about my book giveaway) that there's now a whiteboard paint out there on the market. This is news to me and apparantly lots of companies are making it, including Idea Paint and Rust-oleum. Jennifer suggests using it in your laundry room to note your stain removal cocktails or on furniture and accessories to create personalized gifts. I can see lots of fun paint projects appearing soon!

I don't usually post about fashion here, but this blouse from Akina out of Australia is really a piece of art, isn't it?

We were very sad (like many we’re sure) when the news of Domino Magazine closed. However their innovative and gorgeous ideas live on in their book, Domino, The Book of Decorating. The folks from Simon & Schuster have kindly sent us two copies of their book to give away to our readers.
Having a chance to flip through this book over this past weekend, not only are the images amazing (in the Domino way), but there are some creative decorating tips and innovative how-to's too! I love this book, and truly didn't know how good it was! (I wish I could keep a copy)!
Please leave a comment here (at this post only) with your email address and location. We will run this giveaway from now through to the end of Wednesday, April 29th/09 at 11:59pm. We will post the winners (there will be two) here Thursday, April 30th/09. Good luck and a HUGE thank you to Nina at Simon & Schuster !
One entry per person please.

We found a very fun and easy di.y. kids tee tutorial online the other day and had to let you know about it! Guest blogger Jenn from Ambrosia Girl posted this on the Tangled and True blog. Using a great font, and printing it on freezer paper, then painting the stencil in, voila. Check it out at Tangled and True.

Loving the new Circus Violet collection from Violet Studio that I just got a glimpse of after lunch. From playful porcelain and prints to whimsical stamps and wall stickers, creators, Camilla Engman and Elisabeth Dunker bring magic to home decor. Click here to view the entire collection.

Today we're kicking off a week of all things little! Yes folks, It’s Baby & Kids Week at Poppytalk! So many friends and fellow bloggers are having babies, and because we’re holding a Mother’s Day and Kids Market this month we thought it would be fun, to switch things around a bit and offer up design focused around kids and family.
From kids room art to handmade organic clothing, we hope you’ll join us this week while we venture out to playland! Above Custom Birth Date print by Almost Sunday.

Offerings over at The Handmade Artist this past week include a giveaway print at Sycamore Street Press, a peek into Sarah Ahearn's sketchbook and a moving sale in Michele Maule's shop!

Jean and Dylan of L&G have a new storybook to show us at The Handmade Artist today. It's on a book called Interior Decoration A to Z by Betty Pepis. Lots of fun retro stuff to see. Click here to follow.

We got a nice email from the people at Nylon magazine letting us know they now have a paperless version of their magazine, which we instantly perused and immediately loved with all the sound effects (like pages turning, etc.) Thanks Nylon! Inside we read that Ace Hotels is openng locations in New York and Palm Springs, and being fans, we had to post a couple of their room photos.
To view Nylon's paperless publication, click here. To visit Ace's page, click here.

We will be posting a little late today, and hope you'll come back to check things out!

We just took a look and found the deadline for the Poppytalk Handmade "Paper Pops" Market - a papergoods and affordable art themed market is this Saturday, April 25th! This market is lined up at the same time as the National Stationery Show in New York. We are looking for mainly papergoods (from file folders to journals) and affordable art (work under $100).
If you are planning on participating at the NSS - we encourage you to read It's Showtime - a post by Susy Jack on the steps to preparing for the show. She also mentioned Poppytalk Handmade in this post and it's benefits to participating in it at the same time as the show.
Please submit your submissions to poppytalkblog[at]yahoo[dot]ca with the words "PAPER POPS" in the subject line.

Starting with the chairs above from spot.it (via spot.it flickr stream). And below, www.dutchinvertuals.nl, a group of independent designers from Eindhoven present their latest work.
