Loving this Margaret Kilgallen print on the wall of this Sneak Peek post today on Design Sponge. It's the home of Enormous Champion couple, Jason Wong and Jordan Provost. Their space is really lovely as well, lots of mid-century furniture mixed with fun collectibles. Click here to see more.

New Dallas Shaw paintings. Click on contact for each piece to purchase. It's a little confusing at her website. Then just click on "click here to purchase artwork". That will take you to her list of shops where she sells online (however I couldn't find the new ones up yet), or email her at dallasshawdesign[at]gmail[dot]com. She has booked 4 shows this summer to show off her new wares, which will include SF, DE, Phildelphia, NJ and NY. She will post the dates on her website and art blog very shortly.

civildisobedience

My latest purchase by a new favorite Vancouver artist, Gillian Worsley of Civil Disobedience a hand-drawn (amazing) screenprint of Allen Ginsberg from the Blim Main Street Community Market this past Sunday. Gillian also makes some awesome journals and other beautiful prints. Her website isn't updated with those, but you can probably email her for more info.

Also had a delicious cupcake there too! Thanks Lyndsay! The market will run every last sunday of each month!

Found these swank images uploaded to our The Art of Display pool this weekend, and just love. Hailing from Nashville, TN, owner of this lovely 1955 brick rancher, Marusica has really created a music city home. From music and country-themed collectibles, and local artists her style is down home and full of heart. Note her bedside shelf she made out of an old paper cutter (top image), brilliant! And we love the Johnny Cash image, welcoming guests to Nashville. Visit her flickr to see more!

Picture 7There’s no secret we love Field Notes, those agricultural-inspired memo books from Coudal Partners out of Chicago. Well, we’re sending some to PDX this week for the swag bags being handed out at the Handmade Nation northwest premiere screening, April 3/09! Wish we could be there, but we hear the film will be making it's way here this summer! More info here about the Portland show.

Not to forget about Earth Hour Saturday evening! Click here to vote earth by turning off your lights for one hour - earth hour!

With earth love comes recycling and organization, and this week we lend you a helping hand - well, actually stickers, really - to help you organize your recycling materials. Since we are always confusing our own bins, we thought perhaps we weren’t alone in this department and fashioned these with the idea that they might help out. Download, print and stick them to the side/or top of your bins for easy reference. Click here (paper and glass) and here (newspaper and metal) to download.

poppytalk_books

Bonjour! It's Summer from Design is Mine posting again. Have I mentioned that I am having a ton of fun guest blogging? I really am.

One of my favorite ways to spend my time has always been hanging around bookstores, but being a mum of two little ones, this now means always being led over to the children's section. Here I am almost always asked to flip through the same picture books over and over and over again. Usually, I find this to be somewhat of a chore, but recently I have been finding a large amount of beautiful kid's books that I truly enjoy looking at. As it turns out, many of my favorite artists (ones who are known for album art, posters, and prints) are now illustrating children's books, which I must say is quite a pleasant change from what I think of as the general boring book art.

Anyways, it is quite late here in Portland. I could really use a sweet good night story myself.

1. "All In A Day," illustrated by Nikki McClure, 2. "School Years," illustrated by S. Britt, 3. "Little Hoot," illustrated by Jen Corace, 4. "The Composer is Dead," illustrated by Carson Ellis, 5. "Where You Came From" and "When You Were Small," both illustrated by Julie Morstad, 6. "The Lonesome Puppy," illustrated by Yoshitomo Nara, 7. "My Family, My Journey," illustrated by Susie Ghahremani, 8. "The Octonauts," illustrated by Meomi, and 9. "There's No Such Thing as Ghosts!," illustrated by Emmanuelle Eeckhout.

It's Summer from Design is Mine again here. Today I would like to talk a little more about Portland, Oregon, specifically a group of ladies that reside here.

It all began last Autumn with a bunch of girls who shared two things in common: a love of photography and mutual online friendships. Together they decided to meet on a farm (owned by the family of one of the organizers), bringing with them their favorite cameras, tall boots, and great energy. It was a day remembered fondly by all who were involved, and resulted in some truly gorgeous photographs.

Fast-forward to last month, when it was decided that another event would be held, this time at an old local amusement park, which was closed for the season. I was lucky to have been able to be a part of it. I have to say that there is little more inspiring than being surrounded by a large group of women that ooze talent and courage (believe me, it takes courage to snap away photographs and be other people's model).

This is now turning into a monthly event and is something that completely makes me fall in love with Portland all over again. The ever-flowing creativity is almost overwhelming at times.
