Oh spring! Seems it can't come soon enough.  To survive till it does arrive, flowers are my jam. It's always a happy day when the tulips and bulbs like hyacinths and daffodils show up at our local grocer. Taking cue from the Scandinavians, I repotted some in jars this year which makes for a nice little pick-me-up five minute project! A sweet little DIY to make for yourself or to give as a spring gift!




I'm almost embarrassed how easy this is but in case there are any questions at all, here's how we made ours.

You'll need:
Potted bulbs of your choice (like hyacinth, daffodils, crocus)
Mason jars (or any type of jar, like jam jars)
Small pebbles

We've seen a lot of these jars without the pebbles on the bottom, but they are a good idea for drainage and they just look nice.  Even looking at these images now, we think we'll add some to the top of the bulbs too.

To make: 
Pour a couple inches of pebbles, remove all the dirt off of your bulbs being careful not to rip any of the roots (and reserve the dirt for later). Unravel the roots and then place into the jar on top of the pebbles, (roots first).  Use some of the remaining dirt from the planted bulbs and add it to the sides and tops of the bulb.  And that's it!
