Video: Make Hockey Happen

Make Hockey Happen from Brian Ceci on Vimeo.

Every January a group of friends go from Vancouver to 8 hours north, to Green Lake, BC, Canada. Their mission, to build a full size hockey rink from the frozen lake and make hockey happen. Our nephew, Brian Ceci (a videographer ) filmed the last trip.

Snow. Frozen lakes. Big skies and bigger spaces. There are a few things here in Canada that pull us all together as Canadians. The crunch of ice skates on a frozen lake in the silence of nowhere, with cold beer chilled in banks of snow that was shoveled to clear the ice. Laughter and yells that carry forever in the cold air and the klok of a frozen puck on ice and wooden blade. And friendships and the love of a game that last lifetimes and that somehow make us all feel as one.

Green Lake is dear to my heart- I spent every summer at our cabin there growing up.

This is so great.
