New works from Rikkianne Van Kirk of You Sentimental Idiot. Original paintings on salvaged drift wood (parts of a wooden basket she found washed up on the beach). I love the man with the net (in his suit) and the woman swimmer with a stick in the air. Beautifully weathered pieces, signed and dated on the back. Rikkianne is in our market this month as well. These are great, well done! J
These pieces are oh so wonderful Rikkianne!!
Love the woman with a stick. I wish it was in her Etsy store... especially as a print. Thanks for sharing her work!
wow these are great. i really love that these were made using salvaged driftwood. they're very striking.
I'm torn. I want to like these, but her work bears a really strong resemblance to Margaret Kilgallen's work.

It's a shame.
Claire - Of course she's inspired by Margaret - as are many of us and she claims this many times on her blog.
And Margaret was inspired by other folk artists.
It's folk art.
We are all influenced by something. She's not copying a drawing - she's influenced.
Just as i see this paddle ball - http://poppytalk.blogspot.com/2011/08/wednesdays-wonderful-vintage-finds.html it most definitely tells Margaret was influenced by it. See Margaret's version - http://sissyfish.blogspot.com/2007/03/surf-in-art-margaret-kilgallen.html
Is it copying? Not exactly, but its definitely influenced.
Please be careful.
