Sweet Silhouettes: Abbey & Alex Wedding Cuteness!

Abbey & Alex's cutting cake: white fondant with black silhouette!

Part two of Coco Cake's wedding themed cake posts for Poppytalk!

Alliteration in couples' names is pretty much the best. What about couples with the SAME name even? Wacky wonderful wild. My husband and I don't have alliterative names and we pretty much look like a United Colors of Benetton ad which is pretty much "Welcome to Vancouver"! Vancouver is an amazingly diverse city... but I digress majorly...

Abbey and Alex sent me an example of their wedding invitation, which had a silhouette of the couple facing each other, and colours of brown, with light peach lace ribbon and gold accents. For their wedding, I made oodles of mini cupcakes in gold and dark brown cupcake liners topped with dollops of white vanilla creamcheese frosting and white mini rosettes. The cutting cake mimicked the look of the invite -- I used an exacto knife to create the fondant silhouette on top of their cake! I cut out scalloped shapes and hand painted them with a sparkly gold edible sheen and used some extra lacey ribbon from the invites for the cake as well. Turned out so cute and Abbey loved it! Their wedding outfits were adorable!

Cake, and the wedding invite the cake was based on!

Mini cupcakes! Dark chocolate with creamcheese frosting, vanilla cupcake with rosette swirl!

 Still life with lace!

Custom flag I made for the wedding cake!

That is a great cake! I sort of dread when the time comes when I may have to plan my wedding, there is so much inspiration everywhere!
