The Interior Design Show Vancouver is just around the corner and we thought we'd give you a little close-up of one of our favourite design weekends of the year where designers, artists, makers and design-centric brands come together to showcase their current works, concepts and products at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre West. And this year looks like it's going to be another awesome show! We've created a list of a few special hot spots we recommend and info below on how to get tickets!




Clay & Glaze
This year they are bringing back Clay & Glaze, a curated installation that features contemporary work by an invited group of regional and international ceramicists. From faces on canisters to crumpled vessels to architectural, hard edges, Clay & Glaze will highlight contemporary ceramics at its best.  This year's participants include: Anyuta  Gusakova, Amanda MarieBrian Giniewski, Dana Bechert, DesignK, Laura Carlin, Matteo Cibi, Oddness, Roxanne Flick, Silvia K, The Granite and Tiny Badger Ceramics. Hay Pop Up Shop 
This year, Inform Interiors has teamed up with the renowned Danish design brand HAY to bring a special feature to IDS Vancouver. Select pieces from their collection will be available for purchase on-site at the HAY Pop Up Shop. More info here.

INTRO/ LA
The multi-brand and highly curated exhi, INTRO/LA will be coming to IDS Vancouver 2017 this year, with a mandate to present an alternative experience by integrating a series of design installations into one cohesive exhibit that seamlessly includes both big and small brands. The feature is organized and hosted by design agency and resource Small Office under the direction of Brit-born, LA-based Paul Valentine. Click here for more details.


Decode London | INTRO/LA

Open Studio
IDS Vancouver is partnering with  to present the next installment of Open Studio at IDS Vancouver 2017 – Pattern Explored. A custom wallpaper and fabric design house founded in 2008 by Aimee Lagos and Christiana Coop, the design team is all about creating a cozy atmosphere in your home with wallpaper and other hygge décor, and has collaborated with an amazing roster of designers. Occupying 1600 sq ft of prime exhibition space, Open Studio – Pattern Explored invites a selected group of interior designers to participate in a curated installation focusing on the theme of pattern. With a 10′ x 10’ raw space as a blank canvas, invited participants will showcase their notion of Pattern Explored with a functional or conceptual installation. More info here.


Justina Blakeney | Hygge & West | Open Studio

Prototype
Always inspiring, this year's Prototype, a curated showcase of the next generation of designers with a juried platform featuring products not currently in production, addressing new ideas for the residential market. The group of participants features professional designers and students presenting both to-market and conceptual works. More info here.

Ava Byte | Prototype

The District
The District is the marketplace for designers to show and sell to discerning consumers and industry insiders. A unique, juried area, it is IDS Vancouver’s popular cash and carry neighbourhood where attendees can take home good design. More info here.

Urban Walls | The District

Speakers
This year's speakers include Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon, who's designs created a new wave that blurred the lines between art, decor and design and a renaissance in finely-crafted, intricate objects within the context of contemporary design culture. Matteo Cibic, an Italian designer and creative director who is known for his objects with hybrid functions and anthropomorphic and joyful shapes. Textile designer, Camille Walala who specializes in transforming spaces with a vibrant blend of colour and pattern, lifestyle blogger and creative Kate Arrends of Wit & Delight, and so many more! Offsite
There are a few offsite installations and parties happening too this year starting on the Tuesday prior and this year IDS Vancouver is introducing the wristband – the ticket option that offers unlimited access to all offsite installations and after parties, as well as to all FRAME MINDS talks and the show floor itself during the weekend. THE MIX: Under the Bridge

Brent Comber Studio

Celebrate the launch of THE MIX at IDS Vancouver 2017 under the Second Narrows Bridge! Mingle with Vancouver’s design community, enjoy refreshments and get an exclusive first look at the collaborative installation between Brent Comber and Eindhoven-based design duo OS and OOS.
This event is part of The Mix, a brand new program for IDS Vancouver 2017 that includes displays, installations and talks both onsite and off. The program is generously supported by the Consulate to the Netherlands and curated by Burgers Architecture Inc.



THE MIX: Colour Hunters

Bobbie Burgers Studio (Directions) Continue the celebration of THE MIX’s launch at Bobbie Burgers Studio! Enjoy drinks and get an exclusive first look at the collaborative installation between Bobbie Burgers and Eindhoven-based design duo at Studio RENS.
This event is part of The Mix, a brand new program for IDS Vancouver 2017 that includes displays, installations and talks both onsite and off. The program is generously supported by the Consulate to the Netherlands and curated by Burgers Architecture Inc.

THE MIX: Material Matters
Wednesday, September 27 | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Martha Sturdy Studio

Join us at Martha Sturdy Studio to experience the third installment of THE MIX. Enjoy the reception and get an exclusive first look at the collaborative installation between Martha Sturdy and Rotterdam-based designer Sabine Marcelis.
