The LAB
The LAB is where technology and design meet. This curated section will feature the newest and latest technology, apps and gadgets for design trade professionals and homeowners. Curated by Pete Forde of itsme.
Part of The LAB at IDS, Nanoleaf Aurora (inspired by the beauty of the Aurora Borealis) taps into the power of self expression and creativity through light. Triangular panels (both RGBW colour changing and tunable white) are linkable pieces and let you connect them together like LEGO, making shapes to however which way you wish.

Space designed and created by blackLAB architects inc. in partnership with Lewitt Construction, Moses Structural Engineers, and Dark Tools.

Stone Age Folk
The first instalment of Jaime Hayon’s year-long collaboration with Caesarstone will be unveiled at IDS17, followed by a major event during Milan Design Week in April. Titled “Stone Age Folk” Hayon will use Caesarstone as the essential component of his whimsical universe inspired by fauna – the natural world – and folklore – the mythical world. Blending fantasy with functionality, playfulness with craft, and interactivity with cultural references, Hayon will create a kaleidoscopic and harmonic installation. Visitors will recognize his signature smiling characters popping up throughout the space, alongside joyful carousels, wall panels, lights and tables.
“People tend to see Caesarstone as a material that is only used in kitchens, but I looked at it from the viewpoint of an artist and designer. With this in mind, I wanted to create my own imaginative cosmos, using the brand’s quartz material alongside other noble materials like glass and metal.” – Jaime Hayon
The installation uses over 48 different Caesarstone colours combined
with metal and glass, employing traditional techniques of stone
marquetry and metal crafting, showcasing Caesarstone as a precious
stone.
