The countdown to December 25 is officially on. What better way to get into the spirit of the holidays than with a few DIY holiday projects? Mosaic Homes teamed up with interior stylist, Laura Melling, and floral stylists, Lauren Sabo of Botany & Co, to design a 2 bedroom rowhome at Mosaic’s new community, Kitchner, in South Surrey, B.C. with a series of IKEA Holiday Hacks.

Kitchner by Mosaic is a collection of beautifully designed 2, 3 and 4 bedroom rowhomes located in South Surrey. Be sure to visit the Francis model at Kitchner by Mosaic at 24th Ave & 163rd in South Surrey before January 2nd for more holiday inspiration and enter to win a $2,500 gift card to IKEA.

Check them out below:

1. DIY Holiday Advent Calendar

One of Laura’s favourite hacks is the modern day advent calendar made from IKEA VINTER gift bags, SYRLIG curtain rings, GIVANDE gift tags, copper tape, and metallic embroidery thread.

What You’ll Need: IKEA VINTER gift bags, IKEA SYRLIG curtain rings in white, IKEA GIVANDE gift tags, IKEA VINTER star ornament, copper tape, copper wire, metallic embroidery thread, calligraphy pen, scissors, washi tape, copper or gold thumb tacks

2. DIY Holiday Wreath

With some simple pieces, Botany & Co shares her tips for a copper crescent wreath with a Scandinavian twist.

What You’ll Need: Privet berry, juniper branches, berried cedar branches, eucalyptus, brass wreath frame, copper spray paint, ribbon, floral snips, wire and scissors

3. Cider Station

Bring the scent of the holidays into your home with a simple centre piece of clustered Norfolk pine. Top off with an apple cider station using IKEA 365+ carafes to add warm, cozy vibes to any occasion.

4. IKEA Gift Wrap

The team loves the idea of keeping gift wrapping simple and clean, but memorable. IKEA carries some of the best holiday gift wrap. We especially love the VINTER 2016 and FULLFOLJA series. Simple and neutral, they are perfect for DIY holiday gift wrap with sprigs

5. DIY IKEA Tree Décor

Laura Melling and Botany & Co love holiday décor with a Scandinavian twist. The desert Nordic colour palette, light woods, and tactile elements pair well with lots of fresh greenery. The duo created most ornaments through IKEA Hacks, including:

• Wood Bead Garland: Deconstruct the VINTER star ornament for the wooden beads. Thread through twine for a Scandi‐inspired, natural garland.

• Curtain Ring Ornaments: Repurpose wood curtain rings with leather tassels to add unexpected texture to your holiday tree décor.

• Dipped Dyed VINTER Ornaments: Dip dye wooden VINTER ornaments in white and even a few in copper paint for a little bit of sparkle. Finish with a leather cord to hang from the tree.
