Ikea + Red Cross for Syria

25m2 SYRIA from POL on Vimeo.

25 m2 of Syria is an apartment installation at IKEA Slependen (flagship store in Norway). For TV-aksjonen, Norway's annual fundraising event, Ikea partnered with the Red Cross, with contribution donations being collected for the Red Cross and people living in war and conflict.

The apartment is not your average IKEA display, but the a replica of the actual real home of Rana and her family of 9 in Damascus, Syria. The apartment helps the public to really understand where the help was going to help create a better life for the many people living in these difficult situations. Posters within the apartment tell stories of how people are living.  The lack of food, medicine and access to clean water.

The efforts raised about €22 million for the Red Cross' efforts in Syria and was seen by an estimated 80K visitors during its two week run. Watch the video to understand.
