Interior Design Show Vancouver Sneak Peek | Part II | Dutch Exchange: Eindhoven

Part 2 of our sneak peek of IDSVancouver happening this weekend takes to the Dutch Exchange: Eindhoven.

For the 3rd Exchange at IDS Vancouver Design Milk will curate a group of product designers from Eindhoven who are at the forefront of design. Previously IDS Vancouver highlighted designer-makers from Brooklyn and Los Angeles. And this year with the Netherlands. Dutch Exchange: Eindhoven is in partnership with the Consulate General of the Netherlands and Dudoc and is designed by Vancouver-based Burgers Architecture Inc. Let's take a look!

Ontwerpduo

(Above and below). Ontwerpduo (est. 2008) dreams and demonstrates, fantasies and fulfills, devises and designs. The studio works for labels and brands on request, and once a year presents its own thematic collection in which the poetic and practical converge.
A birdcage in which you can swing freely, lamps that subdivide like trees, or a table you can play marbles on: the fantastic world of Ontwerpduo emerges from the collaboration and chemistry between Tineke Beunders and Nathan Wierink.

Dirk Vander Kooij

Dutch designer Dirk Vander Kooij is a true craftsman, although most of the things he produces are actually not made by hand. He is a new kind of craftsman, one who embraces technology and machines. Studio Dirk Vander Kooij is one of the first new creative residents, a working place with two large robot-arms, a lathe, end mills and cylinders, an evocative showroom and the office. This is exactly as he wishes: plenty of space and view, by the water and surrounded by green. Three employees and dog Siem complete the atmosphere.

Steven Banken

In 2010 Steven Banken graduated with honours from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Shortly after he opened his studio where design and craftsmanship meet located on the factory side of designer Piet Hein Eek in Eindhoven. HIs projects are based on a research in origin and material. This approach results in a clear design with an eye for innovation, construction and finish.

VANTOT

VANTOT is the collective title for the works of Esther Jongsma and Sam van Gurp. Both Eindhoven based designers graduated at Design Academy Eindhoven. Operating from The Netherlands VANTOT focuses on autonomous product design and commissioned work. In 2014, Esther Jongsma (1990, Utrecht) and Sam van Gurp (1990, Breda) launched their own design studio called VANTOT. Esther and Sam both graduated from the Design academy Eindhoven in 2008-2009.
