Dispatch from Toronto | Saudade Presents Casa Cubista

Portuguese-based Casa Cubista (the online store we wrote about earlier this spring), owned by Arren Williams and David Pimentel, is coming to Toronto to launch their brand in a pop-up in Toronto on October 19th at Saudade, the renowned lifestyle store celebrating Portuguese design located on Dundas west of Ossington.
“We fell for the unique handmade modern perspective of Casa Cubista, and couldn't wait to bring it directly to our customers as a full collection,” Co-founder of Saudade, Nancy Fernandes.

All proudly made in Portugal, key pieces include terracotta tableware hand-painted in high-contrast patterns in black on natural white, bowls crocheted in black marine rope and graphic handmade tiles - used as everything from trivets to wall decor - made the same way today as they were in the 16th and 17th century.

Fernandes and her partner Connie Freitas are excited to be working closely with the founders of Casa Cubista, Arren Williams and David Pimentel, on making the project happen. Williams, the former creative director of home for Hudson’s Bay, will be in attendance at the launch event on October 19th, 6-9pm.

Located in Toronto’s vibrant Little Portugal neighbourhood, Saudade opened its doors in the spring of 2015 as a lifestyle store celebrating the best of Portuguese design and artisanal tradition. www.saudadetoronto.com

Founded in the spring of 2016, Casa Cubista is focused on presenting traditional Portuguese craft with a contemporary point of view. Since it’s inception, the collection has garnered press, both in print and online, from around the world.
