Our New Site Design is Here!

If you're following us on Snapchat (@poppytalkcom), you may have seen that we mentioned our new site design this week!  Earl and I (well mostly Earl) have been working on this for a long time, with over 9,500 blog posts, we can finally say we've got most of it looking the way we want it. Not an easy feat, especially because we decided to stay on blogger.  Earl did some amazing coding acrobatics and I'm thrilled how it all turned out!

There was a lot of special blog posts from the past 11 years that were completely buried, and we wanted to create a navigation system that would be easy for our readers to find them, in an attractive way across all devices.

To start, the slider bar at the top is for feature posts of things we love.  The new navigation is what I'm excited about as we've now categorized our main posts into more user friendly sections.

For for example, under the DIY section; you can now search out things by style, like DIY Decor or DIY Lighting, or by medium, like DIY Clay or DIY Paper Weekend Projects and Downloads are also included there.

Other categories, like our IKEA Hacks features hacks we've done on Poppytalk, as well as the hundreds of round-ups we've collected over the years.  A treasure trove and rabbit hole in itself.

Our Decor + Design section features all of our posts from Decor around the world - like all of the design shows in Milan and Paris, as well, our Dispatches posts from Australia to the UK to one of our fan favorite categories, our Hotel Style posts.

Entertaining + Food now breaks down all of our recipe posts into Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Desserts and our newest and popular food series, Ice Cream Bar.

The Latest shows our latest five posts and the Shop section features things on our radar (some affiliate links, and some not). All things we love (of course)!

There's still some kinks to be worked out here and there and we'd love to hear any feedback from you.  The site has been designed with you, (our readers) in mind and would love to get your thoughts on it all.  Feel free to leave a comment or send us an email by click here.

If you are interested in re-designing your wordpress or blogger site, and would like to talk to Earl about it, you can contact him here. Besides designing websites and blogs, he teaches coding and digital design here in Vancouver.

Thank you for reading Poppytalk!
