IKEA Launches The VIKTIGT (Limited Edition) Collection

If you follow us on Snapchat, last week we made a visit to IKEA where we came across the newly launched, VIKTIGT collection, a collaboration with Ingegerd RÃ¥man, one of Scandinavia’s most well-known glass designers and ceramists.  I love this collection, which includes furniture, baskets, rugs, glasworks, a couple of large lamps, bowls in different sizes and braided lids. All made from bamboo and natural fiber. The chairs are on our must-have list.

A fun fact, when I was in Sweden last spring at IKEA's Democratic Design Day I had the chance to interview Ingegerd about the collection (video below).

According to Ingegerd, the collection “is about craft, it’s a project between the craftsmen and the designer.”

Here's a video of our interview in Sweden (the interview jumps in mid conversation where she first talks about her book, 'It's Nothing But It's Still Something" that IKEA has also just published and then she also talks about the collection). It was cool to hear her process and talk about the products.  It makes them so much more meaningful.

Let's take a look at some of the pieces:
