IKEA Has Designed a Bike!

IKEA has just announced it will begin selling a chainless bicycle this summer which is "designed to fit an urban lifestyle" called the SLADDA. Already receiving a Red Dot Design Award, the bike will be available in Europe only (from what we can see) in August of 2016.

Praised as a unisex bike with customized accessories designed to fit an urban lifestyle. The focus has been to develop a bike that needs little maintenance, and is a viable transportation option for the urban environment.

The bike has a rust and oil-free belt drive that should last approximately 15 thousand km, with automatic switches and a clever click system to attach accessories like racks and a bike bag that doubles as a backpack. There is also a handy trailer. The bike is designed with Oskar Juhlin, Jan Puranen and Kristian Eke from Veryday design studio.
