Dispatch from Milan | ZONA TORTONA

Guest post by www.gucki.it

We're super-excited to have Alessandra Barlassina of the Milan-based blog Gucki.it back again this year contributing some of Milan Design Week's highlights which started today.  She starts with Zona Tortona which looks to be another amazing show.  Check out her post below! ~Jan + Earl

Tortona district is where the Fuorisalone started and spread out. Here there are many locations and exhibitions.

Lexus plays with our senses let us drink and eat small leaves with strawberries drop. This year their design award went to Amam, the Japanese studio who developed a project exploring how agar, a gelatinous material obtained from marine algae, can be used as an environmentally friendly packaging material alternative to plastic. Main installation curated by Formafantasma.

If you want to be amazed don't miss the Citizen installation: "time is TIME", the magic of light.

Ikea furnished an entire apartment presenting the new Viktigt with the designer Ingegerd RÃ¥man. Plus an amazing terrace, perfect for having some relaxing time during the crazy design week!

Marcel Wanders for Moooi: baroque and plushy installation!
