Dispatch from France | A Parisian Pied-à-Terre by Camille Hermand

Owning a Parisian pied-à-Terre, a little space to get away to now and then would be a dream come true, yes?

Well this young Franco-Swiss couple with two children did just this and called upon French architect and interior designer, Camille Hermand  of Camille Hermand Architectures, to convert their typical 2-bedroom Haussamanian apartment in central Paris into a functional weekend city pad.  Camille Hermand's response was to keep the apartment's traditional charm, but making it functional and versatile with a contemporary vibe.

As the living space needed to have a comfortable and generous living area because of the children, Camille maximized the space, defining the living room with three clear zones.  The dining table, she designed cushioned bench seating and shelving to create a cozy nook perfect for dinner and studying.  The atelier-style windows optimize natural light, yet separate the kitchen from the other rooms.  We also love the geometric cement floor tiling which pairs well with the pastel blue Smeg fridge and metro wall tiling, creating a retro modern look.

Let's take a look!
