Valentine’s Day is one of my favourite days. Sometimes people feel pressured to go all out on this particular holiday, but staying in with my family is what makes me happiest. The girls love to dress up in princess costumes and help me in the kitchen. This Valentines, we decided to bake something cheap and cheerful.
This cake took no more than 30 minutes to make (Hello, Betty Crocker!) and didn’t cost a pretty penny either! The cake mix was less than $5.00 and the Vanilla Butter Cream icing was homemade, recipe featured in my new favourite baking book, Butter Celebrates!
I asked Gloria at the Flower Factory to provide me with a few of my favourite single flowers. I cut the stems myself and created my very own embellishment. They may not be edible… but they sure made for a beautiful cake!
Finally, we wanted to try something new - something different. We decided to make pink lemonade popsicles with cinnamon hearts…let’s just say the girls loved them!
