We invited a few style makers that we've come to know both online and locally that we admire, asking them to send in a little holiday style vignette from their home to share with our readers. Today's guest is Tina Lau of Tarte Populaire.  Earlier this summer we invited Vancouver pie baker, Tina Lau of Tarte Populaire to share her infamous Salted Honey Lavendar Pie recipe in our Poppytalk Summer publication, since then we've been ordering pies for the holidays ever since!




Tell us a bit about your vignette?
I love making pies for holiday dinner parties but they also make great host and hostess gifts when baked in a cast iron pan or wrapped in a new linen tea towel. For this time of the year, I like including festive ingredients such as cranberries or warm spices like freshly ground nutmeg and clove. The pie pictured here is Cranberry Pear.



What is your favorite holiday tradition?
A tradition in my husband's family is to start a large crossword puzzle that people casually work on throughout the holidays. It's such a nice and refreshing mental change to work on a puzzle!

3. What are three go-to gifts that you'll be giving this year?

More of a DIY, but I love buying flowers from The Wild Bunch (available at The Birds and Beets Cafe) and tying them together with a pretty ribbon onto a wire wreath or tree branch. Makes for a nice and quick homemade gift!
