A Holiday Vignette with Lisa Canning

Tell us a bit about your vignettes!
Christmas is a big deal in the Canning house and we celebrate it hard- but we save it all until Christmas Eve. Until then, we observe the traditional liturgical Advent observance of keeping things a bit simple and solemn in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Then at Christmas Eve we go Christmas wild and that is when all the ornaments and colour (and yummy indulgences) come out. I cannot wait. Until then, we are keeping it pretty neutral in decor. I chose to do a a mix of neutrals and blacks in traditional prints on my sofa to complement my plaid wallpaper.

What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Putting the ornaments on the tree with my kids. Because there is so much build-up to the event they go nuts with excitement. It is pretty amazing to watch the holidays unfold through their little eyes.

What are your three go-to gifts that you'll be giving this year?

Diptyque candles for my decor loving friends

Marble serving boards because they are just perfect

And the gift of time. I recently hurt my hand and was in a cast for 2 weeks (who needs 2 hands when you're a busy mom of 5 kids right before Christmas?!?!) and I realized the best gift that I could be given was someone's time- either in an encouraging visit, or the offer of running errands- so I'm going to be intentional and gift people my time in similar ways : )

Thank you Lisa!
