A Holiday Style Vignette with Alison Mazurek of 600sqft.com

For something special this holiday season, we thought it would be fun to invite a few style makers that we've come to know both online and locally that we admire, asking them to send in a little holiday style vignette from their home to share with our readers. Today's guest is Alison Mazurek of 600sqft.com. We met Alison through our shop last year here in Vancouver and after visiting her blog, we instantly became fans of her adorably edited 600 sq. ft.  space home she shares with her toddler son and husband.  Let's take a look!

Tell us a bit about your photos/vignette?

We have a very small space so fitting in a Christmas Tree isn't always a simple task, almost every inch of our home is used very carefully and thoughtfully. But something about seeing Christmas through our 2 year old's eyes makes a real live tree seem like the only option. So this year we found a tall skinny (slightly patchy) potted tree. Something had to give so I moved our side table that doubles as an extra seat at our dining table and tucked a planter awkwardly behind a door. I even removed a couple pieces of art temporarily! Theo loved decorating the tree and has only broken one ornament so far this year! I have been picking up an ornament for him each Christmas usually handmade from a local craft fair like Toque and I love that our tiny tree is filling up with mismatched ornaments with lots of meaning.

For our tree this year I wrapped the bottom in a wool cableknit scarf I haven't been wearing which was free and cuter than most tree skirts I've seen. We have beloved Elephant and Crow bottle openers so I made scarves for them out of felt to get them in the Christmas Spirit and make Theo laugh.

2. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
For the first time I made an Advent Calendar this year thanks to a workshop at Collage Collage. I filled it with stickers and few plastic woodland animals. Seeing the excitement when he opens the calendar each morning was more than worth the trouble of making it.

Tell us three go-to gifts that you'll be giving this year?

We try to keep gifts to a minimum with Secret Santa's and Experiences instead of things. But some gifts I've picked up this year so far are:

1) Erin Templeton - Time for a Change Purse
I've been using this as my wallet and am loving how it is wearing.

2) Maggie Boyd Ceramics - Hanging Planter or Medium Patterned Planter. I have been eyeing Maggie Boyd Ceramics for a couple of years but I am always tempted to treat myself!

3) Warm and Drift at Much and Little - Hand-Felted Animal Mobile - For the new mom in your life or even as unexpected wall art even without a kiddo. These mobiles are completely beautiful and made with such care.

Thank you Alison!
