A Kittens + Cotton Candy Birthday Party!

Guest post by Tamara Taggart

If you follow Vancouver's weekday anchor of CTV News, Tamara Taggart's instagram, you may have seen a few images from her daughter Zoë's seventh birthday.  Always smitten with the amazing parties Tamara plans for her children, we asked if she'd share some photo's of Zoe's party on Poppytalk!  It's the next best thing to being one of her children we think!  Tamara explains:

Coming up with a theme for my daughter, Zoë’s, seventh birthday came easy. I simply asked her what she wanted to do, and she responded “Kittens & Cotton Candy!” And that’s exactly what we did!

We had two different kinds of “candy” at the party – Cotton Candy & Scandinavian candy by Karameller. I felt good about this decision since their candy is free of GMOs, trans fats, and high-fructose corn syrup. They matched their colors to fit with our theme and made for adorable goodie-bags!

I ordered the removable decals from Urban Walls, and I’ll admit, they stayed up there for longer than I had anticipated. But why not? Halloween was right around the corner!

As always, our good friend Denise (or Auntie Denise) made the cake and the food – it’s hard to believe she doesn’t do this for a living. Kyrani from Klik Photography took the photos; she has a natural knack for capturing the most genuine moments and this is why I love having her. And those amazing cookies? They were made by Sara Miles.

The BC SPCA came by with 5 foster kittens (all available for adoption) and talked about the adoption process while also teaching the girls how to take care of a cat. It was a great way to integrate an educational aspect to the party – and let’s just say the girls were absolutely smitten!

This was definitely a special day. I love celebrating my kids’ birthdays, and I have a feeling that they do, too!

Happy Birthday Zoë! Thank you Tamara! And if you aren't following Tamara yet on Instagram, you should! Not only does she put on the best parties, she's a mother of three, a cancer survivor, a rock wife, an advocate and her family has the cutest dog named George.
