The  Interior Design Show West is happening this weekend at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre and yesterday we got a sneak peek of some of the exhibits before they open their doors to the trade and public.  The show just keeps on getting better and better and this year there's some really cool things to see!  Here's a few highlights from our media preview:




As mentioned in our post yesterday, The LA Exchange, is one of the exhibits, and one of the first things you see when you walk in the door. A collection of Los Angeles designers curated by Design Milk and designed by Vancouver's Falken Reynolds. We're loving the custom-made wall murals by Black Crow Studios and furniture by Bend (below) and the tile work by @interstyleglass.



The Portland Pop-Up designed by @portandquarter features the work of @revolutiondh @quartertwentypdx @madeherepdx @merkledstudio and @plywerk. And a design collaboration with @sequoia_landscaping @greenstems @buletters @greenscapedesign.






Prototype
Back this year is Prototype, presented by Volvo Canada – showcasing North America’s next generation of designers. The group of participants features professional designers and students who will be presenting both to-market and conceptual works. A stunning curated selection of innovative designs by the next generation of designers.

We loved the project GRAINLights by Lightlite, inspired by nature's effect on material over time, GRAINLights are composed of an FSC certified wooden composite material. Once the form is fully assembled and dured it is then aged via a special texturing technique.


Whitney Robinson
ESS lite


SOAK Outdoor Tub
Inspired by the Japanese Ofuro, the SOAK is a two person, outdoor wood-fired soaking tub with a propane heating option. Designed to create an intimate and restorative experience. Design by Kez Sherwood, made by Ox + Monkey.



The New Frontier
An installation featuring several pieces by designers who are participating in a larger exhibit on display at Bellevue Arts Museum (just outside of Seattle). The exhibit displays designs by young designer-makers in the Pacific Nortwest.

We're loving the work by Something Like This Design out of Eugene, Oregon where after creating these beautiful pottery pieces, they drop them into crab traps into the Puget Sound where after a time they collect barnacles, making for a really unique piece of art.  Love the colours of the glazes too!

Gamla Studio's adorable Gimli Den - the perfect hideaway for any dog. And bench by Rason Jens.

Evoke Park Life
Evoke International Design has set up Evoke Park Life, a bar right in the heart of the show featuring some cool elements featuring a team of collaborators @plantersperfect @informcontract @pacificdesignlab @emecochairs @szolyd @and_light @cheintzman



Miele Canada
Miele Canada is back this year with an amazing exhibit featuring their new range collection and handle-less appliances (which one is the dishwasher)? They even are hosting 4 course meal restaurant you can reserve.



Shelf Genie
And how cool is Shelf Genie? Wish these would've been around when we were planning our kitchen. These glide out shelving solutions would keep any kitchen in line.



Loved Heather Ross' booth which looked just like a studio space we would love to have.  Her book, 'The Natural Eclectic' which we wrote about this past week comes out this spring!







Banquet Atelier
The ladies from Banquet Atelier have a booth also featuring their beautiful art and home decor collection.


Spruce Rentals and Collective
The ladies from Spruce are also on the floor at IDSwest - not only furnishing our Social Sessions gathering with their rental division, but they have also set up shop selling unique housewares from their brick and mortar based in Abbotsford.


Collage Collage
And Erin of Collage Collage is here as well this year featuring goods from her brick and mortar now located on Main Street here in Vancouver.
