Banquet Atelier & Workshop Celebrates 5 Years!

Local design studio, Banquet Atelier & Workshop are celebrating their 5th year in business this month and thought a foray into textiles would be the perfect way to celebrate!

“We’ve gone full circle. When we started Banquet we thought textiles would be one of our first products. We experimented a few times with cotton hankies and screened pillows but couldn’t find the high quality that we were looking for until this year”, says Director Tammy Lawrence. Creative Director Sarah Edmonds agrees: “I was so happy to see the rolls of linen come through our door after so much hard work getting everything just right. I studied textiles years ago at Capilano College and am so happy to finally be able to apply all that I learned.”

The new line includes tea towels, napkins, pillowcases and oversized tote bags, all hand-screened in Banquet’s trademark graphic style. Playful Greco-Roman figures dancing, luscious lips, and invocations of the mysteries of palmistry, this line of household wares brings magic, joy and fun into the home. And when you’re ready for a day’s outing, the tote bags are the perfect size for a trip to the beach or a picnic in the park.

Collaboration is in the air for Banquet this season, too. For their Anniversary launch they have teamed with Sunja Link Clothing on a linen dress in two patterns. These will be available at the Anniversary launch and through both Banquet’s & Sunja Link Clothing’s online stores. Long-time Vancouver haberdasher Kildare Curtis, of Eugene Choo, has also included the Banquet Lip print linen in his new clothing line this spring. A gorgeous knee-length skirt is available at Eugene Choo on Main St.

Celebrate with Banquet on May 8th from 5 to 8pm and May 9th from 11am to 3pm at work.shop on 725 East Hastings at Heatley. An assortment of Banquet prints, cards and textiles will be for sale as well as items from the collections Sunja Link Clothing and Dace Clothing. Each collection will be 20% off.
