London-based designer
Paul Cocksedge came up with a really clever idea after learning that more than 10,000 discarded speakers were sent to U.K. recycling centres every month. He created the Vamp, a super-cool gadget that saves old speakers by connecting them via bluetooth to your phone or tablet then transforming the speakers into portable sound systems. Old speakers are given new life, no longer dependent on power or hi-fi systems. Hello picnic, seaside or just out in your backyard! And what's even cooler is he's giving away a free speaker with every Vamp purchase (part of his
#SaveaSpeaker campaign). The type of speaker is a surprise, it may have a nick or dent in it, but "that's what makes it cool", he says.

Wow! Brilliant idea! If we could rescue even a fraction of the speakers that end up as landfill . . .
