It's that time of year again for one of our favorite design shows in the world, Fuorisalone 2015 in Milan, Italy. For the past couple of years, we've been lucky enough to host guest contributors for this very special show. And this year we're excited to have Alessandra Barlassina of the Italian blog, Gucki share her finds. For Day 1 Alessandra visted the Brera Design District. Here's a few highlights! ~Jan and Earl
First official day of Fuorisalone 2015. Where was I? Brera Design District! There are so many events to visit here. This is what I saw and I liked! Above: Luisa delle Piane Gallery – Via Giusti 24. Lamps by Giorgia Zanellato.
(Below) Austrian Design Pioneers – La Pelota, Via Palermo 10. La Pelota is always a beautiful location and Austrian design is great.
Inflated chairs could be the trend of this year!
DCW éditions, Wall & Decò, via Palermo 1. Beautiful setting and wallpapers.
Via Solferino 11 – if you’ve never been here, you must go! In this Milanese courtyard there is the Boffi showroom, Salvatori – stone innovation showroom, the small but precious studio of Paola C. and Dimore Studio. I loved the blue ceramic floor!
Via delle Erbe 2 – Cos. You are going to get lost in the white! This is the installation by Cos!
Accademia di Brera: Belgium is design. Charmy installation in the Napoleonic room.
Orto Botanico di Brera: here there is The Garden of Wonders, the exhibition by Interni. The Botanic garden is awesome! You will admire it before everything else! There is an interesting exhibition about fragrances and installation by designers.
Palazzo Cusani, Via Brera. Outdoor furniture. Interesting tables and chairs by Ortofabbrica. I liked very much the stone-lamps. Braziers by AK-47.
Are you into Selfies? This is the event for you: ECAL
– Photobooth, Via dell’Orso 16. Students of University of Art and
Design of Lausanne show how the selfies phenomenon changed the way we
look at ourselves. Fun!
I also went to the in 5vie district: Piazza Affari, Seletti stand, there wasn’t the Lunapark but this evening there will be a big event with music, street food, bumper cars and the chef Carlo Cracco!
In Palazzo Mezzanotte, location of the Italian stock exchange, there is the collection of the Design Museum of Ravenna, 1880-1980. Interesting.
Garage Sanremo, Via Zecchia Vecchia 3. Max Lamb chairs exhibition. I’ve met him and he illustrated one of his stools. Super cool!
Today I’m exploring the Statale University and will visit Ventura Lambrate again!
