We headed to the fairgrounds today, starting with the key exhibition "Where Architects Live." The exhibit presented how eight of the world's most prominent architects live in their own homes and cities through different conceptual spaces, each with a video of the architect talking about their homes and cities. The intriguing aspect of the exhibit is that these are the people who are shaping the built environment across the planet.
We then hit Eurocucina, the kitchen fair. While many of the big manufacturers were absent, there was lots to see in how the kitchen functions as a machine today and in the future.
And of course we rounded out the day with a good dose of modern furniture from our favourite brands.
Gaggenau had a huge stand with chefs and bakers showing off the functionality of their appliances (and feeding hungry designers)
La Cornue showed it's kitchen solution following the current trend of making cabinets feel like furniture. This design by Jean-Michael Wilmotte was stunning in the detailing... Hopefully available in Canada in a year.

Soft Blocks sofa from Muuto by Petter Skogstad. While not being modular, this sections of this sofa come apart, making it easy to deliver up tight staircases and small elevators.
The Gardenias Indoor chairs from BD Barcelona by one of our favourite designers Jaime Hayon. The finishing details are exquisite and these colours!
The Shanty console from BD Barcelona by Doshi Levien. The colours and corrugated face are classic witty BC Barcelona, complete with clever door openings and drawers.
A solid block of marble makes up this Luna table by Zaha Hadid was stunning at 12' long.
E15 is one of our favourite minimal furniture brands - shapes and forms reduced to their absolute essentials. Beautiful details and strong, raw materials like walnut and copper.
E15 added lighting to their collection of minimal furniture. We met designers Eva Marguerre & Marcel Besau at the stand, both charming and humble of their newest design.
And just because it felt like spring today in Milan, we popped into Kettal's stand to look at their outdoor furniture - we learned that the powder coated aluminum Park Life series comes in almost 30 standard colours.
