Hey all! I am Caitlin, of The Merrythought, and I am so excited to be sharing a DIY with all of you here on Poppytalk today! Lately I have been working on updating my living room by decluttering and adding some useful but simple DIY projects. This one might just be my favorite so far!
What you'll need:
-Two pieces of hardwood (I used oak) 14" x 7 1/4" x 3/4" and 14" x 1 1/4" x 3/4"
-Two small pieces of plywood 2 3/8" x 1 7/8" x 3/16" and 7 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 3/16"
-5 short screws (1 5/8")
-1 long screw (2 1/2")
-Miterbox saw
-Drill
-Stain
-Super glue/Wood glue
How to make it:
-Use your saw to cut both ends of the long, thin piece of oak (which will be the support underneath) at 45 degree angles.
-Stain all four pieces of wood and let them dry according to the directions of your stain.
-Attach the larger piece of plywood to the back of the table by drilling two holes through the plywood big enough for the screw to go through then line it up on the back of the board and drill two pilot holes in the back of the oak then screw the two screws in place through these holes.
-Drill two holes through that plywood underneath where it is attached to the oak - these will be where the screws go into the wall later.
-Use the glue to attach the smaller piece of plywood to the bottom of the angled wood then drill a hole through both - where a screw will go through into the wall later.
-Drill a hole through the top of the angled piece that is slightly wider then your screw and attach it to the bottom of your table by laying your table, with the top on the floor and back side (the plywood) against a wall, center your support piece on the bottom of the table top with the plywood piece sitting flat against the wall, then attach with a short screw.
-Now you can use two short screws through the large plywood to attach it to the wall and the long screw to attach the bottom support to the wall. Make sure your table is level before screwing it in.
Mine has already gotten a lot of use holding my drinks and snacks since this corner of the couch is my favorite spot for late night blogging. Try it out. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!
