I recently received a copy of Annie Sloan's new book, Color Recipes for Painted Furniture, 40 step-by-step projects to transform your home out by Cico Books. The book presents some pretty inspiring projects that demonstrate easy ways to upcycle and revive old pieces of furniture with just a tin of paint in most cases. Working with her own range of decorative paint, "Chalk Paint", Annie offers up projects in Swedish County, Boho Chic, French and Modern Contemporary styles covering tips and techniques including distressing, color washing, gilding, decoupage, stenciling, dyeing fabric with paint and creating limed oak and faux marble effects. She also demonstrates how to darken and lighten colors, and explains how to get colors you love in a really uncomplicated way. Check out a few images from the book below: (Photography by Christopher Drake)
