Canadian Art Foundation | Vancouver Gallery Hop

On Saturday, April 27, 2013, the Canadian Art Foundation, in partnership with the Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver (CASV), invites art lovers to join them for their annual Vancouver Gallery Hop, a day of art, talks and tours happening at galleries throughout the city.

The day begins at VIFFʼS Vancity Theatre with a free talk featuring artists Charles Stankievech and Kara Uzelman and Curator Cate Rimmer, moderated by Canadian Art Foundation Program and Outreach Manager Christine Shaw. These engaging panelists were chosen for their work with landscape and their alternative explorations of earth, air and sea. This panel conversation will prime the gallery hopper for a day of exploring art, ideas and Vancouver. In the afternoon, a series of free tours and talks will be led by art-world experts at a selection of Vancouverʼs galleries and museums.

In addition to four gallery tours and a public art tour led by CASV guides, there will be a 2:00pm talk by Louise Lam at the Vancouver Art Galleryʼs Offsite location, followed by a 3:00pm tour of current exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Gallery, led by Executive Director Nigel Prince.

In the evening, the Hop wraps up with a special reception celebrating the Spring issue of Canadian Art. Held at the Vancouver Art Gallery, this event will also celebrate a new partnership between the Canadian Art Foundation and smart Canada with the presentation of a special artist commissioned “smart fortwo Electric Drive” car.For more information about these events, including maps and brochure downloads, visit canadianart.ca/vancouverhop.
