DIY No-Sew Fall Table Runner

Contributor post by Chelsea of Lovely Indeed

Happy Fall! It's Chelsea, back from Lovely Indeed with a super-easy fall DIY for you to tackle. I was putting out some fall decorations the other day, and realized that my dining table was looking pretty sad and lonely. I set a couple of pumpkins on it, but it still needed a little something, so here's what I came up with!

This little DIY table runner is awesome for so many reasons -- it comes together really quickly, it's entirely customizable, and you can make a bunch and give them as fall hostess gifts! It doesn't get much better. Grab your simple materials.

  • painter's fabric dropcloth, a few feet longer than your table
  • spray paint
  • varying sizes of masking or painter's tape
  • scissors
Step 1: Begin by cutting a strip of dropcloth for your runner. My table is 36" wide, so I cut a strip 12" wide. Also, my table is 5 feet long and my dropcloth was 9 feet long, so I didn't trim the length at all. You can  adjust these measurements according to the table you're working with.

Step 2: Place strips of masking tape width-wise all along the fabric. You can place them randomly -- the goal is to have stripes of varying sizes all the way across the runner.

Step 3: You're almost done! Take the fabric to a well-ventilated area and spray paint the areas with no masking tape on them.

Step 4: Let the paint dry for a few minutes and pull the masking tape off. That's it! If your runner needs ironing, press the back side with low heat. Otherwise, trim any long threads and set it out on your table, or give it to a sweet friend. Have a wonderful fall!
