Metalico from Blue Sky Alpacas

Contributor Post from Megan at Room6

Even though my knitting skills haven't progressed past the simplest of knitting projects and I have no business adding any yarn to my "stash" (destined to become another unfinished project), I can't seem to help myself. I love the looks of this new Fall release from Blue Sky Alpacas. Metalico is a stunning mix of naturally occurring shades of baby alpaca blended with mulberry silk. Just the right amount of shimmer.  For the knitters out there, have you discovered any lovely yarns that you're eager to knit up this Fall?

I bought some lovely merino silk yarn at the Otherist in Amsterdam, they have a webshop too. It's like heaven in my hands when I knit. And fairtrade too!

Yay for knitting on one of my favorite design blogs! We have infiltrated! Lol. I love Jagger Spun Zephyr Merino/Silk. It comes in a lace weight, but you can hold several strands together if you're still intimidated by finer yarns. It's so beautifully sheeny and makes the lightest, warmest sweaters.

Just purchased blue sky metalico yarn to make the Rio Wrap. Usually when I knit up a gauge swatch I am right on but find that I was an inch off on 4" making it necessary to go from the recommended size 3 needles to a 5 . Did anyone else have a problem with this or is it just me? I can't wait to see the finished project as the yarn is so beautiful and feels wonderful. Thanks for your input.
