Hello, my dear Poppytalk friends. Today, I am excited to bring you along on a home studio tour of local Austin architect and certified life coach, Carey Dodson. Carey is the creative force behind Dodson Design, a local firm focusing on architecture and interiors for both residential and commercial spaces. By the way, don't you just love Carey's bamboo plywood cabinet (above)? She designed it herself. So elegant!
Carey also offers design coaching for people interested in designing their own homes or workplaces. She helps clients discover their own authentic taste. Then, she collaborates with them to identify their individual palette of materials, colors, textures and patterns. And - she is available for support through the entire process. Sign me up!
Seriously. It is so exciting to know that Carey, who has been through many, many remodels and who thoroughly knows the process, is available as a consultant if we ever take on a renovation. Also, this sweet little deer on the windowsill makes me smile every time I look at it.
I love hanging out on Carey's balcony. Looking out over the lush tangle of live oaks, you would never know you're right in the heart of Austin. I especially love this little corner with its lovely planters and the small antique ironing board that Carey found at the Wimberley Market.
It is great fun to rummage around Carey's studio with her. She has so many interesting samples. They are so pretty, all on their own. My imagine goes wild, picturing a room with these tiles, or that wood floor, this countertop or that backsplash. The possibilities are endless.
Oh, and one last thing; when Carey visits work sites, she rocks this awesome pink hardhat! Many thanks to Carey for sharing her inspiring space.

Any chance I could find out who painted the first piece, above the self-designed buffet? It's stunning!
