New Book + Giveaway: Knot Thread Stitch by Lisa Solomon

Knot Thread Stitch Giveaway Kit
I'm super excited today to tell you about our friend,  Lisa Solomon's brand new book that was just released called Knot / Thread / Stitch; Exploring Creativity through Embroidery and Mixed Media  through Quarry Books. As many of you know Lisa is a regular contributor here on the blog with her "My Make Believe Collection" posts and along with that she is also an artist, teacher and an inspiration to me and many, I'm sure.  Her book not only teaches how to embroider but includes cool projects to make stuff with contributors such as Kate Bingaman-Burt, Martha McQuade, Camilla Engman and Heather Smith-Jones to name just a few.  From pillow cases to hand-carved stamp designs, the projects are designed to be quick, fun and creative!

As Lisa states on her blog:

"i really just wanted to make a book that had cool projects that used embroidery in an interesting and hopefully retro/contemporary way. i thought a lot about how i use my own EXTENSIVE craft book library -- i tend to look at the pretty pictures and then figure out a way to incorporate a technique or idea in my own way. i dreamed about handing off my projects to a bunch of my über talented friends - and just seeing what they did with simple parameters. so i gave them project titles and a few ideas but very little other direction. i thought it would be fun to see our wildly different and personal takes side by side - and indeed it really was a treat to see the gorgeous work my friends and colleagues made."
A real treat indeed!  And Lisa has a treat for us today - giving away a special kit  she's created just for one of our lucky readers!  The kit includes: one of her books [signed if you want it to be], a 3x5 oval hoop, 2 threads – a regular 6 strand and a cotton pearl size 5 so you can choose or use both, 2 bobbins to wrap the thread around and an abigail*ryan sycamore tea towel [unstitched – she just shot the one that she stitched] to stitch however you please!  If you wish to enter the giveaway, please leave a comment at this post (before Tue July 17/12 at 6pm) and we will announce a winner Wednesday, July 18th/12!  Good luck!

Also if you're in the Bay area this weekend there is going to be a launch party for Lisa's book on Saturday, July 14th from 5-7pm at The Curiosity Shoppe, 845 Valencia Street between 19th/20th.

Knot / Thread / Stitch can be ordered directly from the publisher - Quarry or on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Powells, Indie Bound and (Indigo and Amazon.ca in Canada) and more info on the book and Lisa can be found at her blog here.
