Light it Up: Outdoor Lanterns

Guest post by Lily Ellis of Birch + Bird.

Candlelight sets the mood for just about any occasion, warm summer nights included. Whether hanging from a tree or used as a table centrepiece, lanterns are the perfect way to light up your outdoor space...and everyone looks better by candlelight, wouldn't you agree? Lanterns have more impact when grouped together and here are just a few of my favourites...

No need to break the bank for your next dinner party, simple Mason jars can be found at any thrift store for 10 cents apiece. Leave them as they are or give them a quick coat of spray paint for an instant colour boost. And they make great gifts too! Is it happy hour yet?

Lovely laterns. I use marmelade jars and colour them with paint.

The hot pink ones are so different and fun. I also like the idea of mason jars. I've got a bunch of those just lying around my house. :)

I love lazy summer evenings spent outdoors with candles and low lights. These lanterns make the occasion so special and so much more beautiful. Mason jars is a great idea. Yeah, Erica, get them out and have fun outdoors! Heheheee!

Also, if you buy a lot of glass jars of food like for pickles, roasted red peppers, mayonaise or things like that, many of the jars can be used for candles after you use up their contents. Just soak them in water to peel off the labels and glue. Then you have a great collection of glass jars to add fun anywhere.
