Happy Canada Day + Sunday Reading!

It's Canada Day here today and so I have a heap of Canadian things for our Sunday reading post!  Starting off with Mjölk: Volume 1 - a new project by the folks at Mjölk out of Toronto.  Inspired by Japanese shop and gallery catalogs, owners Juli & John have created their first Volume of what they hope to be many publications over the coming years. Available to be purchased here.

And I couldn't help but mention these pretty terrariums I spotted over at Bookhou's blog that adam made (from Crown Flora Studio) that were at at the junction flea a bit back.  Arounna tells us on her blog that they are now carrying them at their shop.

Also fun, I spotted these Oh Canada buttons over at The Regional Assembly of Text - something to wear and share.  I love that.

In my patriot mode I created a new board over at Pinterest  called "Made In Canada" which I hope will be a constant growing collection of beautiful things made here.  Click here or on the image below to see.

And finally after running into this treat of a short film this past week from the National Film Board of Canada - I thought it would be a fun little diversion to celebrate our country. The Railrodder by Gerald Potter stars Buster Keaton as he crosses Canada from east to west on a railway track speeder. I remember seeing this as a kid on TV and thought back then it was sort of hilarious - the scenes of him cooking, doing laundry on this tiny little speeder. Not a word is spoken throughout as he putt-putts his way to British Columbia. Lots of beautiful scenery and sort of Mr. Bean-like –circa 1965. (approx. 25 min). Related:  There's also a little black and white documentary on the filming of this film here.  Happy Canada Day and Happy Sunday!

Beautiful Canadian Pinterest!

Happy Birthday Canada

Love Adam's and Arounna's work.

Perhaps my Moose Pillow would look good there too?

Oh, you must include Fidoodle's hand printed wooden blocks on your 'made in Canada' pin board. (no affiliation, just a happy customer!)

Happy Canada Day, Jan! I've visited tiny slices of your beautiful country and will be visiting the Halifax area this fall. We Americans are lucky to have such a good neighbor to our north.
