Do I dare tell you about the rabbit hole I fell into whilst creating this post? It's kind of embarrasing and rather typical of my day to day life online; maybe you can relate? It all started when I opened my email and saw this image (above). From powdery pink to saturated coral, I'm loving this chest of drawers painted in tones of apricot that the folks at Livet Hemma sent over. It's a TARVA 5 drawer chest that they painted into an ombre shade of orange and when I saw it, the song "Love is like apricot" started playing my head. Seriously (this really happened). Love is like apricot? Um, yep, I wasn't sure either, so I googled it –the start of my rabbit hole.
So ok, it isn't "Love is like apricot", it's "Love is like oxygen" (by the band Sweet). So have I been singing this song wrong my entire life? Apparantly so. Apricot doesn't even sound the least bit like oxygen, so how did that even happen? I'm not even going to attempt to try to figure that out but what about all those other songs I've been singing wrong? One that came to mind immediately and I had an inkling I've been singing wrong all my life was "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John. Yeah I know, my entire life something was amiss with my version; well today I decided I was going to finally find out what the right words were and put that Tiny Dancer lyric issue to rest! So I googled Tiny Dancer Lyrics.
But reading the lyrics just wasn't triggering my version, so I decided to look for the actual song. I found this one here. Nice version, but the one I'm familiar with I think is a bit
Its' from a Kilborn show back in 2006. He makes reference to a bus scene on the film Almost Famous, (a film I never saw) so since my interest is
So there you go, I dared to tell you. (Does that ever happen to you)?
Meanwhile, back at the ranch.... perhaps a nice little weekend project this would be, maybe paint to the soundtrack from my post? If you're wondering about these colours - I found an online swatch similar from Benjamin Moore. (From the top: soft white 2170-70, peach melba 078, daylily 080, sausilito sunset 074, flamingo orange 075, autumn cover 2170-30 and tropical orange 2170-20). Also these knobs are beautiful.

That is hilarious. My life so often follows a very similar rabbit hole! I am going to resist clicking on any of your tempting links to avoid falling down one right now! ps I love the apricot too
So great- those rabbit holes are good for finding great things though! Love this idea! Can totally see it in shades of turquoise and blues too..;)!
Mmm that's fabulous. I'm in awe.
talk about rabbit holes and misheard lyrics... there is an entire website devoted to them and I remember one of the versions of Tiny Dancer was "Hold me closer, Tony Danza"

Caitlin - that's hilarious - Tony Danza - but i can totally see that happening.
Are you kidding? That's my life! Thank you for the lovely inspiration!
Something else you may have been doing wrong your whole life without knowing--it's "interest was piqued" rather than "peaked". Just FYI
Oh do see Almost Famous! It really is a good one (bus scene and all!)
Molly - that's hilarious!
Thank you - i do know that - just obviously tired.
Omiyage - looking for it for this weekend!
The time suck that is the internet! But thank you for sharing all these great links to beautiful things that are now going to consume me!
Boy, the Internet is a dangerous rabbit hole! But on a side, this dresser is great!! I could really see doing this with shades of blue turquoise!! Thanks!!
I get so easily side tracked/ distracted too. I do love your idea though, thinking of doing it in shades of red. Are these colours just normal paint or ones specially for wood. Thanks!!
How is it we've never met down in the rabbit hole? I spend a good deal of time there! This chest is beautiful and I'm trying to figure out where I could place something like this in my home. Maybe I could keep it in my rabbit hole....
just wanted to let you know i featured this article on my blog {http://shellingrah.blogspot.com/2012/12/fancy-dresser-overhaul.html}
found you on pinterest! lovely!
The dresser is really cute, but...lately I've been seeing a lot of posts like this. Making things out of color swatches. Getting samples and using them without buying any paint. This is why costs go up for everyone else. I'm all about saving a buck; I just don't feel it's fair to do it at the expense of others. It seems a bit like stealing to me.
That's so funny. My daughter is famous for singing the wrong words to songs. My favorite is Beyonce "You must not know about me." My daughters version " you must not no bother me". Haha. I love the dresser. I have plans to try it on a dresser I just found.
Love this idea! I think I will try it in shades of grey.
