Bombast Furniture - Made in Vancouver

Contributor post by Janis Nicolay of Pinecone Camp.

I think most of us try to buy locally made products when possible, so today I want to share with you one of my favourite Vancouver businesses - Bombast.

Russell Baker, a former sculptor, and David Eichorn, a former fashion designer, combined their talents to create Bombast in 1990. The shop is located in Chinatown in the old Kuo Kong Silk building and it's filled with their own beautiful tables, chairs and sofas, and mixed with vintage furniture and accessories. It's a perfect place to see just how well new and vintage mix and mingle together. Love it.

The workshop is just a few blocks away from the shop. Russell and David work together with a few other talented woodworkers. They kindly let me snoop around and capture them working away...

Russell told me they're inspired by American furniture designer, Edward Wormley. This is one of his chairs.

David Eichorn sewing up seat cushions.

A beautiful sectional in progress.

David and Dave Murphy (one of the talented wood workers) keeping busy.

Russell blowing a little dust off.

The Chinatown location.

Bombast pieces are sold in other countries, as well. For more information, contact Russell or David. If you're in the Vancouver area, stop in and say hi!

I love this post... it also gave all kind of funny feels, seeing a man sewing & thereby do "traditional women's" work. ❤

Also, it's alway great to see w.i.p.!
Adore the images, Janis. :)
