Rent a Camper

How cute is this teardrop camper (spotted on the cover of the current Sunset magazine)?  It reminded me again how much I want to have one. But did you know if you can't afford one (like me) you can rent them too?  I knew you could rent one of those RV things, but I didn't know you can also rent a teardrop (Vacations in a Can - $175/weekend), an airstream (Airstreams4Rent.com  from $225/3 nights). Or *gasp* a VW camper (Westfalia Rentals (from $693 U.S./week) in Victoria, B.C., which also serves Vancouver and Seattle)? If you get a chance and are interested, check out Sunset and their links to finding one (which they've also posted online here). Happy camping! (Photo: Thomas J. Story).

I love these campers. :) So darling. We chatted with a fellow who made a great documentary on them. He also builds his own. :) http://petraandadam.wordpress.com/2012/02/28/artist-of-the-month-overland-trailer-northwest-artist/

My husband was flipping thru the latest Sunset, saw this image and said "Look, a camper just for the kids!" Maybe we could trail it behind our 1986 VW Westphalia the next time we go camping.

My mother-in-law bought a tear drop trailer when she was 14! Her dad used to tow it to a campground near Banff and she & her friend used to camp by themselves for a week with their bikes to get to town. So much fun. Would never happen now. Anyway, she still owns it & we spent last summer camping out of it.

Just rented this very camper 2 weeks ago and loved it. I pulled it behind my Toyota matrix and the camper is actually smaller and pulled great. Vacations in a can also builds these campers.

These are FUN! Sierra Teardrops just North of Sacramento rents teardrops taller than this (you can stand up in them) and all have air conditioning, heat, kitchens, running water, TV's etc. Talk about glamping LOL. A couple even have hot water with a shower and flushing toilet. We just took one for a couple days to the Santa Cruz redwoods right on the river. Already planning our next trip! Tons of pictures on http://www.sierra-teardrops.com (530) 366-3133
