Dispatches from Montreal: Fait Ici

Contributor post by Camille of *ouistitine

{Today we're welcoming a "Dispatches from Montreal contributor, Camille of *ouistitine.  Camille who makes adorable eco-friendly and natural one of a kind toys and blankets for kids is also a mother and photographer}!

Fait ici is an urban eco-conscious general store on Notre-Dame St. in Montreal. The owner, Lindsay Davis (who is a little sunshine of her own), wanted to recreate the old style general store feel in bringing back the connection between the customer and the community. The store showcases high quality products primarily made in Quebec; from canned food to organic or handmade baby products, everyone will find a little something that they cannot leave behind. For every product, they know who makes them, where they are made and how they are produced.

Not only a store, you can also have a seat (or order for take out) to eat a homemade lunch. The mac and cheese is just delicious!

Did I forget to mention that they also sell fresh organic food?

Look at those Bookhou triangle tea towels (my favorite!)

The section of handmade jewellery and accessories is hard to resist.

They really have an awesome kids section: from *ouistitine’s upcycled wool plushes and blankets to Raplapla fun creatures and twig reclaimed wood robots… not to mention all the natural skin care products.

If you are around Montreal, you should definitely stop by and say Hi!.

Yes, I absolutely love this store. Guess I know where to go next time I'm in Canada. It's wonderful to see this growing trend of connecting customers with these handmade, handcrafted products and building a community, rather than impersonal, mass-produced and irresponsible products. Allez-y!
