Today I am thrilled to give you a glimpse into Fisterra Studio, workshop of local Austin artist, Jennifer Chenoweth. Jennifer’s choices of media are fearlessly diverse – from straightforward pen and ink drawings to elaborate oil on canvas paintings - from cast concrete sculpture to oil with charcoal on plasma cut aluminum. Jennifer approaches her art with the inquisitiveness of a philosopher; her pieces evolve from an ongoing conversation, often translating a given image from a drawing to a paper cut-out, to a plasma cut aluminum sculpture and sometimes back again.
Jennifer Chenoweth’s home and studio have been a part of the East Austin Studio Tour, an annual self-guided walking tour of East Austin’s creative community every year since its beginning in 2003.
Talented and courageous as an artist, Jennifer also has a good mind for business. She offers workshops on financials for creatives – including entrepreneurship, bookkeeping, record keeping, tax prep and financial management.
Jennifer’s latest creative business endeavor is Generous Art, a curated online gallery helping artists find an audience while supporting the community by donating 40% of all purchase prices to local charity.
Many thanks to Jennifer for opening her home and studio for this tour!
