Today is also Korean New Year, one of the most important holidays. You say Happy New Year Blessings by saying "Saehae Bok Manee Badesaeyo." It's a day to honor and respect your family (living and deceased). As far as food, my family has always eaten rice cake soup (duk guk) with beef, eggs, and garlic with a side of kimchi. Now that I live away from them all, I make sure to carry on the tradition and now my non-Korean husband knows how to cook it as well.

i'm slightly superstitious. i am not washing my hair today and i'm not cleaning or cooking today :) and i cleaned my entire house this weekend. happy lunar new years!
Haha, go figure, I washed my hair today! It's even more funny to me that, because I have long hair, I go more often between washings than most people... so why did I pick today!? Oh well...
Gong hei! I'm Chinese and we were never told not to wash our hair on CNY... but we weren't allowed to do any sweeping because it supposedly sweeps the good luck out of the house. Fine by me! One less chore to do! hehehe!
