Summer Gingham
We're usually game for gingham every summer but this year we were especially crazy. House and Home's July issue had a fun "weekend decorating" article featuring those favourite checks of mine! Check out our post here.
You Sentimental Idiot
We loved You Sentimental Idiot's originals that were launched in early May this year. Artist Rikianne Van Kirk wowed us with her original paintings on salvaged wood and/or linoleum flooring scraps.
Gem Stones
Cori Kindred wowed us with her rock collections and her post on the mesmerizing gem stone.
Papi Luc
This firefly jar picture was probably the most popular post on our blog this year. We reblogged it from Curbly,who got the image off the never finding image world of tumblr (sadly). So no link to the owner (if anyone knows who it is - please please let us know)! Thanks to reader Maize Hutton who linked us up to the firefly owner: Lissy Laricchia (Wow!) We need to credit them her in a big way. (Hey, and she's Canadian)!
First Nations | Native American Motifs
Beautiful arrows and First Nations | Native American motifs continued through 2011 from wallpaper to letterpress coasters.
The Backyard Office
June made us think of the backyard and the backyard office was a huge lure this year. Working from home has become more of a reality (for those of us online) and the need to step out of the home sometimes or all the time would be a nice alternative. The Temporary Kitchen
We love the idea of a temporary kitchen reno, if you can't afford the really big one you're dreaming of. Arren Williams blog contributor, Jenn Hannotte created it until they can build their dream kitchen which she hopes will last at least 5 years. It got us thinking about this type of idea for our reno, and we see other's have done the same like that of Anna's of Door Sixteen.

Cool IKEA Hacks
We saw some cool IKEA hacks this year, with the coffee table above from Weekday Carnival topping the list and the SKURAR hanging planter turn light pendant by Kicsi Ház coming in at a close second.
