DIY: Mother's Day Pop-Up Card

The talented Athena Preston created this adorable Mother's Day pop-up card for the May issue of Martha Stewart Living. Click here for a peek at the how-to video (on right column/sidebar of your screen).  Love this, and looks so fun to make!

I made one for my mom, and one for my mother in-law. It was fun, and turned out really cute, but it is more difficult than they say it will be, and there are several parts of the instructions that I found could use better, and more in depth description.

love this :) i just tried it out and yeah, a template is probably necessary as is double sided paper. i had extra sheets of one-sided 12x12 card stock and the white on the back definitely is an eye-sore. i guess this means i'm off to the craft store sometime soon ;)

That's a little better than the caterpillar-made-from-an-egg-carton that I was considering ;)
Really, that is one sweet pop-up card!

I'm definitely going to try this - handmade trumps store bought any day in my book.

Thanks!

I just tried making it myself, and yeah, the video really leaves a lot out. Especially that actual part when gluing the flowers together. mine didn't turn out. Too bad cause it's really pretty. :-)

Ok, I'm officially angry. They left out a ton of steps, and they don't even show the whole thing being made. I'm usually very crafty, and this is a disaster :(

Here is a link to step-by-step instructions rather than a video. This may help if you're having trouble following the video.
