GLOBAL PECHAKUCHA DAY

In the aftermath of last month's devastating earthquake, PechaKucha Headquarters in Tokyo is planning a global initiative to raise money for the re-building effort. Many of the 400 PechaKucha cities will host a presentation on April 16th, with all proceeds going to Architecture For Humanity. A similar event last year helped raised money for the rebuilding of a school in Haiti, following a disaster there. You can find out more about their global event here: http://global-day.pecha-kucha.org/

PechaKucha Vancouver will be participating in Global PechaKucha Day, by hosting a smaller show, in their familiar 20x20 format, at the Cascade Room on Main Street.

Theme: Inspire Japan
The 20x20 presentations will be focused on 4 main themes INSPIRE, JAPAN, THE ISSUES, RECOVERY. They could be simply about things that inspire us, or Japan how it has inspired you. Great ideas or solutions that help deal with the issues at hand whether earthquake, tsunami or nuclear - and the road to recovery.

Date: April 16, Saturday
Time: Door at 4:00; Start at 4:30
Location: The Cascade Room
Admission: Free; Suggested donation $10 at the door

No ticket required. Limited seating. First-come; first-seated.
All proceeds benefit Architecture For Humanity's Rebuild Japan Plans

This is great news! I am proud to be a part of the architecture community right now :)
I am sure there will be many more discussions and projects and students competitions for cheap and easy to build homes because people in Japan really need them. I am checking every now and then to see if something like that is announced at my university because I would love to take part in it.

Thanks for sharing this, I hope Pecha Kucha in my city is participating too.
