DIY: Modular Storage

Ever since I found the IKEA blog Livet Hemma, I've been inspired constantly with all their fun ideas and DIYs to create one of a kind items using their products. And again today, I'm really loving what they did with their PRÄNT office storage boxes. They've created a fun modular storage system using black metal clips and a little paint for accents (a tribute to these perhaps)? Via   Bright Bazaar.

Recently I've been using binder clips for EVERYTHING--I love the piecemeal industrial/office feel they give things. This is an incredible idea, though. Can't wait to try it!

What a cool idea to paint the insides. I'm moving in a month, and I need storage so badly. I'm definitely going to use this.

Thanks so much!

It looks okay, but it's a total rip off from the Danish Design Company Muuto (www.muuto.com)... But of course if you'd like a more rough look and don't have the money for the real thing, I guess it's okay...

Lou - i think (in Swedish) - they make note of their inspiration : )

Does anyone have any tips on painting the insides of boxes and such? I find myself making a giant mess and ending covered in paint to the elbow... user error? ;-)

I really like this, I wonder how stable they would be for a shelving system at a craft show? This is what I would want to use them for...always looking for innovative and inexpensive ways to exhibit my wares.

Does the Ikea blog have an English version online anywhere? I did not see a link though I am not impartial to pretty Swedish blogs!

I love these for holding records! Too bad they're not available in Canada (or my quick search didn't reveal anything). Love.

I love this too but can't find these boxes available through Ikea Canada either. Does anyone know if they're available here? Or another source for buying similar boxes? I would love to use this idea for my kids' rooms.

You know, I think I'm going to try to make some of these for one of our rooms. Love them.
