Weekend Project: Storage on a Budget
Since I've been busy trying to re-organize a room here I've been looking for some storage box ideas and haven't been too keen on all the plastic ones out there. I love the idea of wood, and so when I happened upon the blog Cherry Tomato through a twitter conversation yesterday I thought, how perfect and affordable. Rather than purchasing the more expensive new wood boxes, Mary of Cherry Tomato cleverly had the idea to visit her local wine store and pick up some wooden boxes there (at $3 each). After that, she painted the front end of them with chalkboard paint, for labeling. Click here to read her how-to. A fun and super-easy weekend project, I say! Happy weekend making!

I love this idea and happen to have quite a collection of wooden wine crates.
briliant!
I love a good wooden wine crate and chalkboard, this couldn't be better!!! Hugs, Twiggs
That's a lovely idea. I have been on the lookout for some similar vintage boxes but they're going for about £20. But the wine crates idea is great.

Will be perfect for toddler's basement toy and book stash!
love the chalkboard idea, never thought of the that, a visit to my local wine merchant is in order!

This is a great idea! I have a crate that I bought last week. Now all I need is some chalkboard paint.
Amazing!!! Loved the idea & love wood wine crates!!! ;) Twiggs
I love the idea of reusing something without it looking vintage... you can turn them around when you want that vintage look or keep it chalkboard for a modern look. TFS!
The chalkboard is gorgeous! I just re-pinned it.
