I love parties. Not only am I fan of socializing with friends and drinking one too many cocktails, but I'm in love with the food. Nibblies, dips and things on sticks help to make up the wonderful world of appetizers.
One of the easiest things to whip up are these glamourous little bites. They look beautiful and they taste just as good. You can find peppadew peppers in the deli section of fancy grocery stores or on the shelves near the olives in your local ethnic grocery. They're slightly sweet and slightly pickled, and when stuffed with an herby goat cheese make an elegant little nosh.
Peppadew Peppers stuffed with Herbed Goat Cheese
1/2 small log of goat cheese, room temperature
1 1/2 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
zest of 1/2 lemon, finely chopped
a good grind of black pepper
a tiny pinch of kosher salt
12 peppadew peppers
In a small bowl, mix together the goat cheese, chives, lemon zest, salt and pepper. Using the tip of a butter knife, stuff each pepper with the cheese mixture. Alternatively, if you're feeling fancy, you can use a pastry bag to pipe the cheese mixture into the peppers. La dee da!

I love these little peppers. The first time I tasted them was when a fellow South African brought them back from SA to Toronto and put them in a salad when we went over for dinner. I thought I wouldn't be able to find them here and was so excited when I came across them in a local grocery store. Well worth the hunt!
Oooh I've had these on their own and they're delicious! What a wonderful idea to stuff them - will definitely try it. Thanks for the tip! xx
this sounds fantastic!
Oh my, do those look delicious. Thanks for the recipe!
Now following.

Thumbs up for red appetizers...mmmmm
I love these little pepper and was introduced to them when we were visiting my husband's family in SA. We live in the US and I can't seem to find them anywhere!! I try every time I'm in a more upscale grocery store and still no peppadews....anyone got any tips on where to find in US stores. I tried Whole Foods with no luck - maybe I was looking in the wrong place?
Oh my goodness! I've never heard of peppadew peppers! I might need to hit up the fancy deli in town and see if I can find them. I love goat cheese and anything!
they are SO CUTE! i can't wait to try this!!!
Miriam, they do have them at Whole Foods. They are in the deli section with all the open olives. Just ask one of the workers and they should be able to point them out to you.
Yay! I had this very thing at a restaurant recently and I've been thinking about it ever since.
Right on! Love these little gems! This is a snack for me when I'm feeling lazy and just want something fast to eat. Heck, I'll even eat these right out of the container. Actually I have :)
Whenever I'm going to someone's house and don't have time to make anything I buy a container of these peppers, some goat cheese and crackers -- it's always a big hit.
