Laundromats/Launderettes

Quirky colors. Retro typefaces. Repeated circles. Rows of chairs. My fascination with laundromats is going on a dozen years now, and it doesn't seem to be subsiding! It's very nice to have a washer and dryer of one's own, but nothing can replace the kitschy appeal of these public laundry rooms.

Judging from the amount of laundromat photos on Flickr and by this Belle & Sebastian music video, I'm not the only one who loves the look of these vintage gems!

I'm with you! having to use the laundromat is too traumatic but there is something strangely seductive about them visually and culturally. Lovely shots...

Victoria, Kate, and Coquette & Dove -- Thanks for the film and video ideas! I'll have to watch them...and I'm sure they'll only add to my laundromat fascination.

Has anyone heard of the Launderette called Slosh and Wash in Vancouver? It's a launderette with a bar attached.
