Dinesen Douglas

I came across these beautiful floors (and ceiling - see above) from a home featured in Skonahem this weekend and was totally in awe. The beauty of the planks themselves, so wide and long, I can only imagine the sensation of walking on the grains. Made by a company out of Denmark, Dinesen creates these beautiful douglas fir and oak floors using raw wood from the best forests in Europe, which have been nurtured for generations for the benefit of society and the consideration of the environment. Originally used for castles, manors and churches in the late 1800's, Dinesen floors have become an architect's favourite and showing up (since 1965) in museums, art galleries and residents as a perfect match for a modern clean look. Below find more images collected from their site.

And they're nice people to boot (at least the UK-based team are). And they produced some 50cm wide planks in heart oak for a show in Milan, absolutely stunning. Not cheap though!
